They do have multiple auto manufacturing plants, in addition to avocados and tequila. I think we at least have redundancy in everything but tequila, but that usually makes people do extra-dumb drunk stuff, so no big loss if they stop shipping it here.

I think they’re kinda both right. Mexicans will pay for it with duties/taxes on goods imported from there and the effect that has on industry south of the border, Americans will pay for it in how the above reflects in an increased price of said goods.
